Linebacker Darreon Herring from Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Ga., has committed to Vanderbilt.
Herring chose Vanderbilt over offers from North Carolina, Clemson, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
He’s the fourth commitment for Vanderbilt’s class of 2012. Three of those prospects are from the state of Georgia.
Herring is the fourth player from Stephenson to commit to an SEC school, joining running back Mike Davis (Florida), defensive tackle Jafar Mann (Florida) and defensive lineman Carlos Hood (South Carolina).
Linebacker Raphael Kirby (Miami) and tight end Joshua Parris (South Florida) have also committed to major conference schools.
