UT’s Waggner Still Practicing With What Might Be A Broken Hand

Tennessee safety Prentiss Waggner is still on the football field.  He’s still working on his coverage.  He’s just doing it with a club/cast on his left hand.

Waggner sent a shockwave through the Big Orange Nation on Sunday when he tweeted that he’d likely broken his hand.  Initial X-rays on Monday revealed “something.”  More X-rays are scheduled for Friday.

But in the meantime, Waggner is still practicing, albeit in a red no-contact jersery.

“I told him he didn’t hit anybody anyway, so really he’s still live,” Derek Dooley said.  “We’re just actually blowing the whistle when he gets near the runner.  Most of his work that he needs is pattern-match, covering, and he can still do all that.  I don’t think we’re missing much, and I’m sure he’s happy because he doesn’t have to put his screws on anybody.”
