Tennessee basketball signee Chris Jones from Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose High School will play at Northwest Florida State College next year.
Jones will play for former UT assistant coach Steve Forbes, who is now the head coach at Northwest Florida. Forbes was a key recruiter in the recruitment of Jones to UT.
The decision to attend junior college was confirmed when the Memphis Commercial Appeal spoke to Melrose head coach Jermaine Johnson.
“He can concentrate on getting better mentally and physically,” Johnson said of Jones.
UT coach Cuonzo Martin signed point guard Wes Washpun during the spring signing period partly because of concerns regarding Jones’ ability to qualify this fall.
