Ramsey Of “HBO Four” Will Meet With The NCAA Next Week

So I go and finish up my taxes this afternoon.  When I come back, I have the following stories to post:

* More on Bruce Pearl’s NCAA-related firing at Tennessee

* The audio tapes of two arrested Florida basketball players and one student-manager have been released.

* And one of Auburn’s “HBO Four” is thinking about spilling some more beans.

Do you think Mike Slive drinks Pepto by the pint or quart?

At any rate, former Auburn football player Chaz Ramsey — one of four players to allege on HBO’s “Real Sports” that some players at AU got illegal payments during the 2000s — will be talking with NCAA officials next week.

Ramsey claimed that he himself had received money handshakes while playing for the Tigers.

The ex-player told The Birmingham News today that Auburn will not be represented at his meeting with NCAA investigators.  “I wouldn’t like Auburn to be there,” Ramsey said.  “The NCAA wanted to talk to me, so the NCAA is going to talk to me.”  Auburn attorneys had requested to be present at the get-together.

Asked if he knows names of boosters or coaches who provided cash to players, Ramsey said, “I may.”

Ramsey lost a lawsuit just two months ago against a former Auburn trainer who he accused of mismanaging his rehab from back surgery.  He is still an Auburn student, though he’s now doing his classwork out of state.

For Auburn and the SEC it’s just one more off-field, bad-pub issue to worry about…

(And, yes, I just worked a Sonny & Cher video onto our site.  Winning!)
