SEC Headlines – 3/30/11 Part Two

1.  Chris Rainey is having “a tremendous spring” and that’s a good thing because he’s Florida’s last healthy running back.

2.  According to Will Muschamp, all three Gator quarterbacks are adapting well to Charlie Weis’ pro-style offense.

3.  Linebacker Neiron Ball — who suffered a burst blood vessel in his brain six weeks ago — underwent another “procedure” yesterday.  Our best wishes go out to Ball and his family.

4.  New Georgia offensive line coach Will Friend likes the size of his new troops.

5.  Tailback Washaun Ealey missed practice with a hamstring injury yesterday.

6.  Brandon Boykin — already UGA’s career record-holder for kickoff return yards — may add punt return duties to his job description this fall.

7.  Josh Harrellson has turned into a leader for Kentucky’s basketball team.

8.  Enes Kanter is being credited with helping Harrellson’s development.

9.  DeAndre Liggins is toning down the talk before facing UConn’s Kemba Walker on Saturday.  Walker scored 29 on UK in November.

10.  UK’s team is coming together at just the right time… and there are plenty of inspirational stories that can be credited.

11.  South Carolina point guard Bruce Ellington says he “decided to play football because I missed it.”

12.  Tennessee linebacker Greg King is trying to bounce back from numerous injuries.

13.  Offensive tackle Ja’Wuan James will miss the rest of spring practice with a case of mononucleosis.  (At least it wasn’t stereonucleosis.)

14.  Derek Dooley jokes that if UT point-guard-turned-defensive-back Melvin Goins can register 1.7 steals per game as he did in basketball, “he’d make all-conference” in football.

15.  Cuonzo Martin wants to meet with UT basketball signee Kevin Ware before granting him a release.

16.  Vanderbilt receivers hope to make a bigger impact this fall.
