SEC Headlines – 3/17/11 Part Two

1.  Ole Miss’ season is over following a 77-74 loss at California in the NIT last night.

2.  Senior guard Chris Warren passed the 2,000-point plateau in the loss and became just the fourth SEC player all-time to record 2,000 points and 400 assists in a career.  (Pete Maravich, Allan Houston and Litterial Green, if you’re wondering.)

3.  And now the focus will shift to the futures of Andy Kennedy and Rebel basketball.

4.  Senior defensive end Sean Ferguson could become the leader of Mississippi State’s defense this fall.

5.  Ferlando Bohanna is ready to “grind” for playing time in MSU’s linebacking corps.

6.  LSU’s 290-pound fullback JC Copeland doesn’t seem to be 100% happy with his move from the defensive line.

7.  Arkansas’ Eric Bennett is moving from cornerback to strong safety because “he seeks out contact.”

8.  Bennett’s not the only man switching spots in the Hogs’ secondary this spring.

9.  The Razorbacks’ basketball signees — a top 10 class — are keeping an eye on UA’s coach search.

10.  This will be a critical hire for Arkansas AD Jeff Long.

11.  This writer says Alabama has to hit a moving target to reach the NCAA Tournament.  (That or it could try to avoid an RPI in the 80s, a strength of schedule in the 120s, or a 5-11 record away from home.)

12.  Anthony Grant’s Crimson Tide will host New Mexico in the second round of the NIT on Monday.

13.  Newcomers and youngsters will be the main story during Auburn’s spring practice.

14.  The four former Tiger players who were arrested for armed robbery and booted from Gene Chizik’s team last week have been told to stay off of AU’s campus.

UPDATE — 15.  Missed this one somehow.  A walk-on quarterback at Ole Miss was arrested and charged with stealing a swimsuit worth $59.50.
