McElroy’s Hand Getting Better, Wonderlic Score Not As High As Advertised

Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy had an up and down day yesterday.  First, he announced on Twitter the following:

Cast off!! Still have to wear a splint for 2 more weeks but at least I have freedom!

The fact that the cracked bone in his throwing hand is healing means McElroy is closer to being able to throw for pro scouts.  All good.

The down?  Well, it’s more embarrassing than bad.  According to “a league source” speaking to ProFootballTalk.com, McElroy’s Wonderlic score wasn’t a 48 (out of 50) after all… it was 43 out of 50.

In defense of McElroy who confirmed the original score on The Dan Patrick Show, the QB’s agent says his client was told by multiple sources that he got the 48.

As PFT.com puts it: “It’s still pretty darn good, but McElroy has slid from the “super genius” category to merely “genius.”
