LSU Paid $6,000 To Lyles’ Scouting Service

In covering Auburn’s many alleged NCAA misdeeds over the past few months we’ve suggested everyone wait to pass judgement until there’s actually some hard evidence of wrongdoing.  So far, there have been only accusations, allegations and Thayer Evans stories.

Now we can say the same for LSU.  Right down to the Evans stories for  While things might look bad, until someone turns up some cold, hard dirt on the Tigers, things aren’t actually bad.

But we want to lob one more statement out there in connection to Auburn and LSU’s purported ties to street agent Will Lyles: Don’t laugh too hard, SEC fans.  If the NCAA is making a serious commitment to dig into the street agent business a lot of Southeastern Conference schools could feel the effects.  So before tossing stones at either set of Tigers, remember, your favorite team also resides squarely in a glass house.

That said, LSU has now confirmed that it paid $6,000 to Complete Scouting Services, the recruiting firm tied to Lyles.  LSU associate AD Herb Vincent told on Monday that Lyles’ group is “one of about a dozen recruiting services we contracted with.”

An LSU spokesman said the school no longer uses Lyles’ service, but the school provided no explanation for the severing of those ties.  The spokesman also said that Les Miles knows Lyles “a little bit but doesn’t know much more about him.”

However, recent Tiger signee Trevon Randle told Evans that Lyles was particularly close with Miles’ assistant Brick Haley, who led Randle’s recruitment.  Haley has yet to speak about his relationship with the reputed street agent.
