Auburn Moved Pre-Iron Bowl Open Date At SEC’s Request

Auburn decided to play nice when it came to this year’s Iron Bowl game against arch-rival Alabama.  In an effort to lessen the number of teams enjoying bye weeks prior to their contests with Alabama, the SEC office asked AU to shake up their 2011 schedule and move their previously scheduled November 19th open date.  And the Tigers agreed to do so.

Auburn split up Georgia and Alabama on its schedule — for the first time since 1963 — by moving its open date to before the UGA game and dropping Samford into the Saturday slot between the Dawgs and Tide.
