SEC Headlines – 1/14/11 Part One

1.  Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley will announce his NFL intentions this afternoon.

2.  Cam Newton is leaving Auburn as “perhaps the program’s most beloved player.”

3.  Former Clemson guard Noel Johnson will transfer to Auburn’s basketball team.

4.  It doesn’t look like Alabama will lose any additional underclassmen to the NFL.  (But they’ve already lost Julio Jones, Mark Ingram and Marcell Dareus.)

5.  Arkansas’ players know they blew a good shot at an SEC road win Wednesday at LSU.

6.  LSU’s Stevan Ridley says the NFL is a possibility he just can’t pass up.

7.  This writer believes Les Miles spun the Michigan job into a great insurance policy in Baton Rouge.  (There’s also word that Miles wasn’t happy with AD Joe Alleva’s lack of support during the 2010 season.)

8.  Jim Chaney, Paul Chryst and a few new names pop up on this writer’s list of potential Tiger offensive coordinator candidates.

9.  As we told you earlier today, Dee Bost and Renardo Sidney combined for 49 in a 69-64 MSU win over Ole Miss last night.

10.  Last night’s hostile crowd in Oxford helped fuel Sidney.

11.  Rick Stansbury says the “very sweet” win extends beyond one game.

12.  The loss drops Mississippi to 0-2 in SEC play.
