The long battle over the eligibility of Kentucky signee Enes Kanter is expected to come to an end today. “A source close to the situation” has told FoxSports.com that the NCAA is likely to reveal its decision shortly.
The NCAA already ruled the Turkish big man “permanently ineligible,” but UK officials re-filed his case after the governing body’s Cam Newton ruling.
Can you say, “But Kanter didn’t know what his parents were doing?”
We at MrSEC.com have our fingers crossed for Kanter to be cleared. If player ignorance works in one athlete’s favor it should work in other athletes’ favor, too.
But we won’t be holding our breath. In Kanter’s case, money changed hands. In Newton’s it did not. The NCAA will likely fall back on that fact and ignore what Kanter might or might not have known.
UPDATE — Jerry Tipton of The Lexington Herald-Leader breaks the situation down right here.
As all KY fans know by now the Mark Emmert NCAA has ruled Enes Kanter Permanently Ineligible. It is now time that the NCAA be held accountable for the bias and unjust ways it has handled rulings on violations. As KY fans and I think this ruling on Enes has a lot to do with him changing his mind on attending the Univ. of Washington to attending the Univ. of Kentucky. I think it is time for the US Senate to call for hearings on how and why the NCAA is doing business in such a dishonest way. They are to support and help the student athlete, not to destroy them. IN the six months the Mark Emmert has been President of the NCAA some of the most bias and unjust ruling have been made. When looked at these ruling are for money and how to futher the gain of money by the NCAA. This needs to be looked at. The NCAA Is very CORRUPT
