Dixon Brothers Choose South Carolina

South Carolina picked up commitments from defensive linemen Gerald Dixon and Gerald Dixon on Tuesday afternoon.

The two prospects, who are half-brothers from rival high schools in Rock Hill, S.C., are the 27th and 28th commitments for South Carolina’s 2011 class. The Gamecocks now have commitments from five players who project to play on the defensive line.

Gerald Dixon Jr. attends Northwestern High School while Gerald G. Dixon is a student at South Pointe High School. Their father, Gerald Dixon Sr., played linebacker at South Carolina from 1990-91 before going on to a 10-year career in the NFL.

South Carolina is hoping to land another defensive lineman from Rock Hill – South Pointe’s Jadeveon Clowney. The nation’s top prospect to some is thought to be most strongly considering South Carolina and Alabama. Other schools, such as Auburn, Clemson, Florida State and Florida, also appear to be in the mix.
