Georgia’s Fall Camp Underway

The Georgia Bulldogs became the first SEC football program to open fall camp yesterday afternoon.  The early returns were good… but what did you expect on Day One?

Head coach Mark Richt was fired up (at the media and an out-of-place trash can)…

True freshman Hutson Mason made a good first impression at quarterback…

Starting quarterback Aaron Murray has nixed the glove from his throwing hand…

For those who’ve forgotten, Murray is aged all of 19 years….

Trinton Sturdivant was back from injury, again…

And Richt says it’s time for his team to “master our craft.”  Is that anything like being the master of your domain?

Yesterday also marked the continuation of a theme that’s become a hot topic in the Peach State — Will Georgia be soft because they aren’t planning any two-a-day sessions this year?

The head coach says no.  “I wouldn’t say soft,” he told The Athens Banner-Herald.  “Soft is not a good word, because we don’t want to be considered soft.  And I don’t think that we are in any way, shape or form.

“I was like, ‘You know what?’  Instead of breaking them down and building them back up, let’s just build them up from the get-go, get ‘em to the gate, make sure everybody knows what to do and everybody’s ready to play hard and play in the heat and let’s see what happens now.  That’s kind of my philosophy for this camp.”

The idea of a “soft” team will now be put to bed.  Until the first time some team runs the ball effectively against the Bulldogs.  At that point, expect to hear how two-a-days would have made all the difference.
