SEC Headlines – 5/14/10

1.  The University of Alabama athletic department has extended its deal with Nike through 2018.

2.  Nick Saban says he likes recruiting better than golf.

3.  Bama basketball coach Anthony Grant has passed the buck on the transfer restrictions placed on former Tide player Justin Knox.

4.  Charles Barkley believes Tony Barbee is going to win at Auburn…

5.  He also says UK’s DeMarcus Cousins isn’t ready for the NBA and Eric Bledsoe might not be either.

6.  Ole Miss athletic director Pete Boone has more to say about Murphy Holloway’s transfer.

7.  UM students are still trying to decide on a new on-field mascot.

8.  ESPN views the Ole Miss-Boise State game as “their marquee game for kickoff weekend 2011.”

9.  Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen believes his team is facing a first — three road games against the nation’s last four national champions (at LSU, at Florida, at Alabama).

10.  Florida has added a local basketball player who will skip his senior year of high school to join the Gators this season.  (That means Billy Donovan is two over the scholarship limit and will have to run off two players… not that anyone will care.)

18.  Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher isn’t interested in adding another big non-conference game to the Seminoles’ schedule (which already includes Florida).  “I don’t need to go pick up Alabama or Auburn or Tennessee or somebody like that.”
