SEC East Headlines – 5/6/10

1.  Former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow has the hottest selling jersey in the NFL.

2.  Urban Meyer told his team this spring “you’re gone” if you use drugs.  (No word on whether or not folks put down their bongs long enough to listen.)

3.  UGA fans can’t like the fact that receiver AJ Green is getting so much 2011 draft pub.

4.  Green and Brandon Boykin could both leave Georgia after their upcoming junior seasons.

5.  Is it New Year’s Day bowl or bust for the Dawgs this year?

6.  This blogger says dismissed Georgia quarterback Zach Mettenberger is getting calls from Kentucky and Tennessee in the SEC.

7.  Jim Rome says John Calipari’s departure from Kentucky is not a matter of if but when.

8.  This Chicago writer says you can pay not attention to Calipari’s denials.  He states that “several NBA sources” have confirmed that Cal IS interested in the Chicago Bulls job and that it might be the Bulls who lack interest.

9.  When he arrived in Lexington, Calipari decided not to renew the scholarship of Matt Pilgrim.  Pilgrim transferred to Oklahoma State where he is now accused of rape.

10.  Derek Dooley — who was in Atlanta for a Tennessee booster meeting yesterday — praised his mother’s orange attire.  (Father Vince was not present.)

11.  Dooley still has to decide which of two pretty different quarterbacks will lead the Vols this season.

12.  Vanderbilt is trying to aid in Middle Tennessee flood relief.

UPDATE — 13.  This writer and Steve Spurrier’s wife both believe the Ol’ Ball Coach is just trying to motivate Stephen Garcia when he rips him publicly.  (Yeah, and that’s worked wonders so far.)
