Congrats to Florida Gators cornerback Joe Haden, who likely just made more than $20 million guaranteed dollars as the Cleveland Browns’ 7th overall pick in the NFL draft.
New Cleveland Browns CB Joe Haden
Haden is the 40th first-round selection in Gators history and the 11th in the last 14 years. Only two Gators, Gerald Warren (No. 3, 2001) and Kevin Carter (No. 6, 1995), have been drafted higher than Haden, who has been the draft’s top cornerback for the entire process.
No Gators cornerback has ever been taken higher than Haden, who is one of at least three Gators expected to be drafted in the first round with center Maurkice Pouncey and quarterback Tim Tebow.
Haden’s 40-yard dash times of 4.57 and 4.6 seconds at the NFL Combine did not affect his stock. Haden improved his time to 4.43 seconds at UF’s Pro Day in mid March.
“This guy, when he puts the uniform on, is as fast as anyone,” ESPN analyst Jon Gruden said.
Haden talked to the Browns the most out of any NFL team, according to Dawg Pound Daily.
Here’s a great video of Haden hanging out in New York.
