SC’s Garcia Wearing Helmet Cam In Practice

It was only a matter of time before coaches began using helmet-cam technology during practice… and the folks in Columbia seem to be ahead of the curve on this one.  Yesterday, South Carolina’s Stephen Garcia had a small black camera attached to the top of his helmet.

Unfortunately for Garcia, the tape it show will give him a good view of the five interceptions he tossed.

“It’s one of those training aids you put on a quarterback, see what the heck he’s looking at,” Steve Spurrier said.  “So we’ll go back and review, see what Stephen’s looking at on all the interceptions he threw today.”

Quarterbacks coach GA Mangus says the camera was “strictly experimental.”  “And if it’s something that we can get something out of, then maybe we’ll look at getting a couple of them and putting them on.  It didn’t seem to bother him while he was throwing them.”

Congratulations, Garcia.  The ol’ ball coach now has a new way to get into your head.  Or at least on top of it.
