Report: Grantham Takes UGA Job

Georgia fans had to wait to land their new defensive coordinator.  But they didn’t have to wait until the NFL season finished.

According to Tom Dienhart of Rivals.com, “Georgia will hire Todd Grantham as defensive coordinator.”  He also reported via Twitter: “Grantham’s deal is signed.  It is for 3 years.  He will be the third highest paid DC in the nation.”

Grantham’s name has been associated with the Dawgs’ job for a couple of weeks now.  He is currently the defensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys… who remain in the playoffs.

Mr. Dienhart’s reports came in the early hours this morning, but neither Georgia, Grantham or the Cowboys have confirmed the deal.

It is possible that Grantham wanted to wait until after the Cowboys lose in the playoffs (or win the Super Bowl) to make the announcement, in order to avoid a distraction for his current players.

But there was no way something like this could be kept quiet for long.  IF it is true.
