Are UF Assistants Heading To Louisville?

There have been several reports in recent days that Florida cornerbacks coach Vance Bedford was set to become Louisville’s new defensive coordinator under Charlie Strong.

According to The Gainesville Sun, the job has been offered to Bedford, but he has yet to make a decision on whether or not to accept it.

Also, Strong revealed yesterday that UF running backs coach Kenny Carter has been offered the same job with Louisville and will decide on that job by this weekend.

So much for not raiding Urban Meyer’s staff.  Well, wait a second.  Maybe Strong has found a loophole.  Technically he’s not raiding Meyer’s staff… he’s raiding Steve Addazio’s staff.  Yeah, that’s the ticket.

There were also reports yesterday that the Gators have hired DJ Durkins to coach linebackers and special teams.  Durkins was at Stanford last year, but he’s yet another member of Meyer’s “Bowling Green Mafia.”  Meyer has coached the Gators’ special teams previously, so perhaps this shows that he is planning to lessen the load on himself next season.

UPDATE — FootballCoachScoop.com is “reporting” that former Gator player Terry Jackson and former Gator running backs coach Stan Drayton are being considered as replacements for Carter.
