Georgia Headlines – 10/5/09

1.  In this “the good, the bad, and the ugly” wrap of Saturday’s loss to LSU, Roger Clarkson of The Athens Banner-Herald writes that a crummy celebration penalty wasn’t the only cause of UGA’s defeat.

2.  Tony Barnhart of The AJC writes that it’s time to do away with the “excessive celebration” rule.  And he’s correct.  I’m no fan of showboating, but players should be allowed to celebrate — not taunt, celebrate — after scoring what looks to be a game-winning touchdown, for example.

3.  Mark Bradley of The AJC provides a midseason assessment of the Bulldogs.

4.  The Dogs still can’t figure out their run game.

5.  Saturday will mark the first time since 1937 that Georgia and Tennessee have met with neither team ranked.  (The schools did not play every year until 1992.)
