SEC Title Odds and Over/Unders For The SEC

Is there anything that makes fans more angry than the someone slighting their team?  An when you’re fan, just about everything seems to be a slight.

With that in mind we bring you the Las Vegas Sports Consultants odds for winning the 2009 SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, sure to make fans all over the South feel slighted:

Florida
1/2
Alabama
9/2
LSU
9/2
Ole Miss
9/2
Georgia
10/1
South Carolina
20/1
Tennessee
20/1
Arkansas
25/1
Auburn
40/1
Kentucky
60/1
Vanderbilt
60/1
Mississippi State
75/1

And to wrap things up, here’s how the over/unders on wins as set by the LVSC tipsters (with MrSEC.com’s take in parenthesis):

Vanderbilt — 4.5 wins

(That’s close to where I’d set the line myself.  I see the Commodores winning 5 this year, so I would take the over.  And feel very queasy about doing so.)

Kentucky — 6 wins

(UK has hovered right around 6 wins in the regular season the past few seasons and it makes sense that they will do so again.  But four bowl bids in a row might be too much to ask.  I’ll take the under.)

Auburn — 6.5 wins

(I’m starting to think they’re going to put all of these o/u lines right where I would.  I’d go under for Auburn, but it’s awfully close.)

South Carolina — 6.5 wins

(Finally an over.  I think the Gamecocks will put together a 7- or 8-win campaign… despite the rough start to their schedule.)

Tennessee — 7 wins

(Since I see UT as having a 7- or 8-win roster, I’ll have to take the over on this one.  But again, it’s close.)

Arkansas — 7 wins

(Another rough one.  I have the Razorbacks winning 7 games, so I guess I’ll have to take the over here.  But I’d like it a lot better if the o/u line 6.5.)

Georgia — 8 wins

(I think UGA will wind up wih 8 wins on the money, but I’ll take the over.  The Bulldogs are more likely to win 9 than they are 7.)

LSU — 8.5 wins

(Take the over.  The Tigers will win 9.)

Ole Miss — 9 wins

(Oh, boy.  I see the Rebels winning 9 games.  They have an easy schedule and a lot of talent on paper.  But I can still picture the wheels coming off of this one.  I’ll take the over, but I’m not in love with that pick.)

Alabama — 9.5 wins

(I see the Tide winning 9 this fall, so again, this one’s close to my picks.  Replacing so many key players on the offensive line worries me.  I’m tempted to take the under, but I’ll go with the over.  In Nick Saban I’ll trust.)

Florida — 11 wins

(I can’t picture the Gators losing more than one regular season game plus they’ll have the opportunity to win an extra game in the SEC title match.  Take the over.)

What about Mississippi State?  Apparently the guys at the LVSC don’t care much for the Bulldogs as they’re not even listed on their over/under board.
