Quick Notes ‘Bout The SEC Meetings

In case you didn’t read any of the preview pieces we provided yesterday for this week’s SEC meetings, here’s another one.

Tommy Hicks of The Mobile Press-Register has put together a quick little look at what’s expected to transpire down in Destin starting today.

UPDATE — Also, Ron Higgins of The Memphis Commercial-Appeal reports that EVERY football game in the conference is expected to be televised somewhere, somehow this fall.  (Pay-per-view will still be an occasional option.)

UPDATE — Jeremy Fowler of The Orlando Sentinel has a topic-by-topic breakdown of what’s on the SEC’s agenda this week.

And Tony Barnhart of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution delivers a preview of the meetings as well, but he zeroes in on the big issue of the week — coaches’ mouths.

According to Mr. Barnhart, commissioner Mike Slive will tell the leagues coaches to:

“Knock off public pronouncements that other coaches are breaking rules.”  (That means you, Lane Kiffin.)

“Knock off shots about somebody’s else’s recruiting techniques.”  (That one’s for you, Urban Meyer and Dan Mullen.)

“Knock off the talk of rumors that another coach might be moving on.”  (That’s aimed at you, Steve Spurrier.)

According to Mr. Barnhart, the commission believes — and rightly so — that there is “too much at stake for too many people to have coaches back-biting each other in public.”

So while “the fans and the media are immensely entertained by it all.  The commissioner is not.  The commissioner wins.”

(Sidenote — We’ll mark all of the SEC Meetings-related stories each day with the graphic at left… just so you can find those stories more easily.)
