Georgia News – 5/18/09

Here are the top stories from Athens this morning:

With their contract with Jacksonville running out in 2010, Georgia athletic director Damon Evans feels that the future of the Georgia-Florida football game needs to be addressed this summer.  Atlanta wants to land the game for the Georgia Dome once every four years.

Urban Meyer wouldn’t like this if it happened at Florida… but one former Georgia football player is being a bit critical of the Dawgs in his new blog.  (That’s him at left with the wound on his head… click the headline for a better view.)

Tony Barnhart of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution believes former Georgia defensive coordinator (and Georgia Southern head coach) Erk Russell should be in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Former UGA basketball coach Dennis Felton has declined an offer to coach Nigeria’s national team in this summer’s African Basketball Championship.  (Did Adolph Rupp ever coach in that tourney?)
