Georgia News – 4/13/09

Here are the morning notes from the Georgia campus:

The Bulldogs’ spring practice might be over, but there are still plenty of questions left unanswered in Athens… including these five.

After losing Knowshon Moreno and Matthew Stafford, it was probably unsettling for fans to watch their offense score nary a touchdown until the final minutes of Saturday’s scrimmage.

Mark Bradley of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution doesn’t believe Dawg fans should be panicking over Saturday’s lackluster G-Day game.

(I agree completely.  It’s a spring game.  Terrible teams can look good, good teams can look terrible.  There’s no way to guess from a spring game how a team is going to perform when the real curtain goes up.)

Mark Richt said, “I think the defense took this game very seriously and was excited about establishing that edge.”  The two squads combined for just 16 points.

At least there were few injuries in the game, as revealed in this notes column.

Backup quarterback Logan Gray had “arguably” the best day passing the football.

At tailback, Carlton Thomas appears to have caught Caleb King to become “co-1′s” going into the fall.

Freshman quarterback Aaron Murray — who isn’t competing for the starter’s job — finished with solid stats in Georgia’s three scrimmages.
