Barnhart Talks Quarterbacks In The AJC

Tony Barnhart of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution examines in his blog five quarterback battles to watch in the SEC this spring.

They are:

Auburn — Chris Todd versus Kodi Burns

Georgia — Joe Cox versus Aaron Murray (a battle most people believe to have already been won by Cox)

Alabama — Greg McElroy versus Star Jackson

Tennessee — Jonathan Crompton versus BJ Coleman and Nick Stephens

LSU — Jordan Jefferson versus Jarrett Lee and Russell Sheppard

Mr. Barnhart also wants to keep an eye on the Vandy battle between Larry Smith and Mackenzi Adams.

As I wrote on March 4th, I wonder if another year of unproven quarterbacks will lead to another year of disappointing football in the SEC.Ā

Sure the league won the national title with Florida and Tim Tebow last year, but it was a down year for the conference overall and everyone knows it.

The SEC will need better quarterbacking in 2009 to get back to its usual level of high play.

With so many quarterback battles, can that really be expected?
