Who’s The SEC’s Most Irritating Football Coach?

According to Mark Bradley of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a man who’s never coached a game in the SEC has already become the most irritating coach in the SEC.

Yes, that’s right, Dan Mullen is a jerk.

Just kidding.

Mr. Bradley ranks Lane Kiffin, the Tennessee Talker, as the league’s most annoying football coach.

His take on Kiffin:

“He thinks the way to win is to talk trash and recruit hard.  If your record as a head coach is 5-15, you’d think that, too.  But he has already frosted so many people — including some who work in his athletics department — that he’d better win big immediately or he’ll be gone by 2011.  Which would be unfortunate.  We in the South need to hang on to Li’l Kiffy.  He’s the greatest villain since Spurrier sank his fangs into Ray Goff.”

Zing.

The rest of Mr. Bradley’s rankings lay out as follows (you can read his rationale by clicking these pretty red words):

1.  Lane Kiffin

2.  Nick Saban  (I think that’s a bit high.)

3.  Les Miles  (Is he irritating?  Or is he just a goofball that landed at the right place at the right time?)

4.  Urban Meyer

5.  Mark Richt (I think this is way too high for Richt, but Mr. Bradley has a couple of pretty good reasons for ranking him here.)

6.  Steve Spurrier (If he hadn’t been neutered by mediocrity at Carolina he’s probably be at the top of the list with Kiffin.)

7.  Bobby Petrino

8.  Houston Nutt

9.  Dan Mullen

10.  Gene Chizik

11.  Rich Brooks

12.  Bobby Johnson
